Pink Eye or Conjunctivitis

Mostly in our kids, they’re dirt balls. Can be viral and/or bacterial. Joy. It generally resolves on its own within a couple weeks. Don’t want to get the drops or ointment with with petroleum, alcohol, mineral oil, lactose, borate, silver sulphate, sodium nitrate from Walgreens or your kid refuses it?

Let’s fix that shit.

Hygiene. Tell the dirt ball to stop putting their dirty little fingers in their eye and spreading it to the other. Tell a story of the kid who went blind from pink eye (true story). Tell the dirt ball that they’re gonna be fine.

Humidify that eye! Humidify at night. Use a few drops oil in a crockpot humidifier or comparable at night with Olbas oil or leaves or oil of eucalyptus, camphor and/or mint. Close the doors and such to keep that sweet humidity in. Let the dirt ball catch up on its sleep.

Humidify during the day! Offer hot tea (chamomile/echinacea tea is a bonus, but whatever hot liquid will steam their little dirty face will do), warm bath, or handheld nebulizer with sterile saline and a drop of sterile herbal tea (chamomile, marshmallow/globemallow, echinacea). If you make extra tea, serve it to the dirt ball to drink daily iced or in juice or sippy. Maybe one day you’ll get thanks but I wouldn’t bet the house on it.

Tap a cracked garlic clove daily on their ears and lymph, chest and back if they’ll let you, to prevent that crap from going elsewhere, or do the same with a Vick’s vapor rub sort of salve that you can stomach the ingredients of.

If it doesn’t clear up in a week, give the dirt ball 1-5 drops goldenseal (precious) 3x a day in juice or however the dirt ball will take it.

Buy yourself a book or do something you need for you. You just saved the world AGAIN.

Wash your hands.
